Mixed
media painting on canvas
(120x90cm) |
| |
My
painting quotes ‘No Women, No Cry’ a powerful mixed media work
by the artist Chris Ofili. I have taken the symbolism of
this work and used the idea as a basis for my own tribute to the
black people and our complex histories. I mourn our
tribulations and celebrate our successes within a collage of
references to black culture, beliefs, histories and identities,
to artists and musicians, places, events, heroes and heroines. |
